The Last Tastes of Summer

9/16/2015

The rabbits made a feast of most of our vegetables this summer, but the tomatoes stuck it out through September. We got these heirloom varieties from rareseeds.com. The "Blue Berries Tomato" is my favorite for its beautiful rosy purple color and awesome flavor. (pictured on the left and in the center) The large striped tomatoes pictured here are "Flame Tomatoes", also sometimes called "Hillbilly Tomatoes". I didn't get into any canning or sauce-making this summer, but we certainly have enjoyed eating these fresh and sharing them with friends and family.
